ALGIERS - The candidates to the legislative election planned on June 12th on Thursday begun the campaign which will run three weeks, by explaining their respective programmes and demonstrating the importance of this election for the future of the country.
Meeting with voters in Algiers, Kamel Bensalem President of the Algerian Renewal Party (PRA) said the next legislative election constitutes an "important opportunity" to effect change.
"The upcoming election is likely to make change materialize and build new Algeria to which all the people aspire," he said, stressing the need for "a high turnout.”
He said that the slogan chosen by his party is "originality, efficiency and renewal" and the list it proposes is composed of "high qualified young people having the ability to spoil speeches of despair, fight against bureaucracy and contribute to the enactment of laws that would respond to the people’s aspirations as well as to the building of strong institutions and the preservation of security and the stability of the country."
Lakhdar Ben Khellaf, member of the Front for Justice for Development party (FJD) said that the party launched their electoral campaign from the Place de la Liberté de la Presse (Press Freedom Square) in Algiers, in order to send a "strong message" to the Algerian people as a whole, that their next representatives in Parliament will continue the struggle to achieve the objectives set by the party.
The same official said that the party has drawn up a “comprehensive” electoral programme, which would provide suitable solutions to all the problems from which the citizens suffer."
Moreover, Secretary General of the National Liberation Front (FLN) party, Aboul-Fadl Badji told a press conference that the political party is resolutely willing to make a success of this election, dubbed "crucial and decisive" for future generations.
