ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in a supplementary meeting following the work session he chaired on March 17, took a series of measures to contain the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19), including putting in quarantine of all cases, be they confirmed or suspected, the president of the Republic said Thursday in a statement.
President Tebboune has decided the "suspension of state-owned and private public transportation, inside and inter-provinces as well as railway traffic, the demobilization of 50% of employees, except those working in vital services, with the retention of salaries, and the demobilization of female workers having infants."
The categories concerned by demobilization will be defined, in both cases, through an executive decree to be promulgated by the Prime Minister.
The measures also include "the temporary closure of cafés and restaurants in major cities."
"The measures will enter into force from Sunday (March 19) to April 4, and will be lifted or extended according to future data."
